2016 Renault Megane Review

2016 Renault Megane
2016 Renault Megane

The new, fourth generation 2016 Renault Megane is made on the same basis as the “presidential” Espace minivan and business saloon Talisman.

This does not announce that Megane 2016 wants to jump over the premium products, like the most fresh German competitor. No, Renault is simply looking for opportunities to increase earnings. In fact, all is subordinated to this goal.  Renault has removed everything from the model range that did not turn into a profit, even if it was zero positive.

2016 Megane only with two pairs of doors. Even in sporty versions.

This means the end of the three doors Renault Megane Hatchback and Convertible, even the Sedan body type is at stake. A caravan Renault Megane Grandtour on the other hand remains. We can expect it in the shape of a fourth generation Megane next autumn, shortly followed by new 2016 Scenic, also built on the same basis. And although the Parisians wrapped this information in cotton wool, it is already clear that the new Megane RS will have two pairs of side doors, automatic transmission, as well as technical treat you’d want in all versions of the 2016 Renault Megane: 4control four-wheel steering.

4control in 2016 Renault Megane for the first time

renault-megane-gt-4control

New Megane GT: equiped with 4Control it radically enhances driving sensations with no penalty on comfort.

The so-called 4control is the system which, in favor of better flexibility at low and reliable position at higher speeds, turns the rear wheels. 4control already proved itself to be useful in the former Renault Laguna and Espace, and now for the first it will be available in 2016 Megane IV. Unfortunately, it is reserved only for the sports version Megane GT. The one with the powerful 150 kW (204 horsepower) turbo engine and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Impressions from the first rides overlap with those of Renault. Megane GT is an athlete, who is comfortable enough for an everyday relaxing drive. GT is by no means a radical athlete, this privilege is reserved for a Megane RS version, created by engineers from the Renault Sport department and will come out of the workshops in 2017.

We can say that 2016 Renault Megane is a functional car. A so-called Multi-Sense system contributes a lot to this fact. Multi-Sense provides the choice of selecting different driving modes. It can be sporty responsive in one moment and the next moment you can travel comfortably like nothing happened.

Renault, where is applications mirroring from smart phones?

At the official presentation of the car in Lisbon the most time was devoted to the big screen with the R-Link 2 system. At the same time Renault admitted that it is not in line with Apple’s or Google’s infotainment interface and that they are already behind some competitors (like Ford with SYNC 3 or new Tiguan). Megane will acquire the connectivity with smartphones (the mapping of telephone applications on a central digital display of the car) in the near future.

Dynamic shape is very popular

renault-megane-gt

Dynamic shape is very popular among buyers. Megane IV definitely has it.

Renault is well aware that Megane customers like if the car is configured dynamically. This was proven with the number of sold versions of GT line. GT line is Megane with GT appearance and with conventional engines. But whether it’s GT, GT line or normal Megane, one feature will now be common to all of them. 2016 Renault Megane taillight will be “ON” all the time. Even during daytime.

We think that many participants on the roads may like this characteristic, but the idea grew on in the minds of Renault designers. They wanted to give the new 2016 Renault Megane something special. They emphasize that (on the road) we have a better view of the vehicle when driving behind, so that “something special” must be mounted on the rear end.

2016 Renault Megane Diesel Hybrid for companies

Even more impressive are the new features in the cabin. A projector that shows the vehicle speed to the driver in the direction of his view. Or a large 8.7-inch vertical tablet on the center console, sensitive almost as good as the latest smart phones. Megane 2016 of course also received a long series of assistance systems and modern ECO engines. And Megane gave the promise. In 2017 comes the hybrid.

It will not be a hybrid drive which will be able to run the vehicle solely on electricity. Nor it will have the batteries which are rechargeable at charging stations. Renault says that these technologies are still fairly expensive and with Megane Hybrid they would like to reach a wider circle of customers.

The electric motor in new Megane will therefore only offer some help to diesel engine so that it can achieve lower fuel consumption and lower emissions. Those characteristics are increasingly important when companies choose vehicles for their fleets and with such an affordable hybrid, Renault is coming towards them. Also, because they expect to sell 60 percent of all 2016 Meganes to businesses.
