The longest Uber ride so far: from Williamsburg, Virginia to Brooklyn, New York.

Probably the longest Uber ride and the most expensive one so far was ordered by a girl who wanted to see her boyfriend. The girl in love and her persistent Uber driver drove from Williamsburg, Virginia all the way to Brooklyn, New York.

Affordable Uber ride fully utilized beyond the boundaries of common sense

The saying that people in love can do crazy things was proven in this Uber ride. The girl in love, who wanted to see her boyfriend, ordered an Uber driver in the city of Williamsburg, Virginia. Nothing special, if you do not know the final destination, which was Brooklyn, New York.

According to Metro UK, the passenger was around 19 or 20 years old. She entered the car and asked 64-year old driver Janis Rogers, how far north can she drive her.

Ms Rogers, who saw an interesting adventure on this road trip, accepted to take her to where she wants.

Objective: 397 miles or 640 kilometers away.
Destination: Brooklyn, New York.
Estimated time of travel: 6 hours and 15 minutes.

Uber driver said that the passenger slept most of the way. When after long eight hours of driving they finally reached Brooklyn, the girl didn’t seem very excited when she saw her boyfriend, just very tired.

By the way, an average Uber ride is 8.7 kilometers or 5.4 miles long.

Was the longest Uber ride profitable for the driver?

Ms Rogers calculated that after the toll, gasoline and all other expenses, she earned around 9 dollars per hour. Luckily she is driving a 2005 Toyota Prius, known for low fuel consumption.

Uber is not expensive, but not the cheapest at such distances

Self-Driving Uber, the future is closer then we may think.

The girl paid 294 dollars for the longest Uber ride. She did not leave any tip, but it seems that if someone drives you that far, a few bucks on the top are almost a must.

But is this really the cheapest way of traveling such a long distance? Not really.

For the same journey by train, she could get a ticket for under 100 dollars and the bus is even cheaper. Even more ridiculous is that at this time, the domestic flights in America are extremely low, and an airplane ticket would cost only around 190 dollars.

But it is also true that with these cheaper means of transportation you face some additional logistic difficulties, like getting to and from the station, booking a ticket, checking the departure times and so on. With Uber, all she had to do is to look at her smart phone and click. And of course be lucky to find a driver adventurous enough to accept such a trip.
