The medicine Meldonium finds itself on the WADA list of prohibited substances, and costs Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova many contracts, including the one she had with Porsche.

After a series of contract terminations with tennis player Maria Sharapova, the German sports car manufacturer Porsche also made a decision. A press release from Porsche said: “We regret the current news about Maria Sharapova. Until further details emerge and we are able to analyse the situation, we have decided to suspend planned activities.”

Maria Sharapova fails drug test

Maria Sharapova has failed the drug test at the Australia Open Championship. She admitted taking meldonium medicine because of diabetes and health for ten years. Before mentioned medicament is banned by an anti-doping agency Wada from January 1st this year. Tennis player did not pay attention to changes in the list, and she took it further.

Many sponsors of beautiful Russian player, last year she earned 30 million US dollars, responded to the news by suspending the contract. Among them, a manufacturer of sports clothing and equipment Nike and manufacturer of prestigious watches TAG Heuer.

The same is done by the sports car manufacturer Porsche, which has a contract with Sharapova from 2013. Maria was the ambassador of this German luxury car brand.
