The jubilee car with serial number 18.000.000 was candy-white Skoda Superb Combi and came from the production line of Skoda factory in Kvasiny, Czech republic.

The 18-million milestone was also a perfect opportunity to announce a 260 million euro investment in the factory in Kvasiny where in the near future they are planning to launch a brand new Skoda SUV program.

Škoda automobile beginnings date back to 1905, when they started producing their first vehicle, called Laurin & Klement A model. Before that they were known as bicycle and motorcycle manufacturer. From 1905 to 1991 they manufactured around five million vehicles and since then their production has grown rapidly. By 2006 Škoda produced 10 million vehicles since 1905, in 2013 the number increased to 15 million vehicles and a few days ago the 18 million milestone has been reached.

“Since 1991, we invested more than 11 billion euros in our factories in the Czech Republic, which represent the heart of our international production,” said Michael Oeljeklaus, Škoda member of the Management Board, who is responsible for the vehicle production.

Škoda plans to invest around 260 million euros in a factory in Kvasiny, one of the three production centers of Škoda in the Czech Republic. This will increase the factory production capacity to 280 thousand vehicles a year, while employing up to 1,300 additional people. Currently the factory, which manufactures Škoda Yeti and both body styles of Škoda Superb, employs 4,500 people. According to information from Škoda, this factory is the biggest candidate for the production of the new Škoda SUV, which is currently being developed in Mlada Boleslav for the near future.

The most important Škoda model in 2015 was Škoda Superb with 432,300 deliveries to customers, followed by Škoda Rapid (194,300) and Škoda Fabia (192,400). The total number of units delivered in 2015 was 1,055,500, which is a 1.8 percent increase compared to previous year. Based on a great success of the Škofa flagship model Superb and new SUV vehicle launch at the door, we are sure that these numbers were not the last record breaking ones.
