The electric Tesla Model S and X will get a bigger battery with a capacity of one hundred kilowatt hours. The car will enable 400 to 500 kilometers with one battery charge and accelerate up to a hundred kilometers per hour in just 2.5 seconds. Tesla Model S P100D with upgraded battery is the first serial electric car on the market that is able to exceed the 300-mile range on a single charge.

Theoretical range of Tesla Model S P100D: 613 kilometers (381 miles)

After several weeks of insinuation, Elon Musk, the Chairman of Tesla Motors, confirmed the new version of the Model S and Model X with a battery capacity of one hundred kilowatt hours. This electric car battery had until now a maximum capacity of 90-kilowatt hours. The power of the electric motor will remain the same, also the four-wheel drive remains the same.

A larger battery, of course, provides a longer range of the car. Which, according to the European cycle NEDC, officially amounts to 613 kilometers. So far, this is the longest range of any electric car. Of course, the range in real life traffic is shorter, but Tesla Model S P100D will definitely be able to travel from 400 to 500 kilometers on a single charge.

Tesla Model S P100D: car for seven passengers, to a hundred kilometers per hour in 2.5 seconds

Tesla Model S P100D will be able to speed up (in ludicrous mode) to one hundred kilometers per hour in just 2.5 seconds. Musk points out that this is the third fastest serial car in acceleration up to now. In his words, only Ferrari La Ferrari and Porsche 918 Spyder are faster. But both are already sold out and are mostly designed as a supercar.

Electric Tesla, for example, accelerates faster than the legendary McLaren P1 supercar. We are sure you can find some other faster accelerating cars, such as Croatian electric supercar Rimac Concept One. But these cars are very expensive and are produced in extremely small scale.

Tesla Model X P100D crossover with the new battery accelerate up to a hundred kilometers per hour in 2.9 seconds.

Tesla Model S P100D otherwise remains the same. It still has two luggage compartments and room for seven people. The most powerful version of the Tesla Model S will also be the most expensive so far. Musk points out that on the other hand, selling more expensive versions of the Model S and Model X, allows the development of a cheaper Tesla Model 3.
