In this article, we would like to show you the technical differences between Audi Q3 Sportback vs Range Rover Evoque, both model year 2020.

Although I think Audi’s more direct competitor might be BMW X2, this English prince is also a legitimate option to consider.

This is not a real-life test, only a simple technical comparison, based solely on technical data of both cars. Not a real-life 2020 Audi Q3 Sportback vs 2020 Range Rover Evoque review.

In the video above, and also in the article below, you can find the differences between Q3 Sportback vs Evoque (not the Chinese one) in the following categories:

  • External dimensions (length, width, height, wheelbase, ground clearance)
  • Interior dimensions (headroom, legroom, shoulder room)
  • Cargo volume/luggage compartment, weight
  • Maximum power, maximum torque, top speed, acceleration 0-100 km/h / 0-62 mph
  • Safety (Euro NCAP crash test results)

Exterior dimensions: Q3 Sportback longer, Evoque wider and higher

Audi Q3 Sportback is 4500 mm / 177,2 inches long, 1843 mm / 72,6 inches wide, 1560 mm / 61,4 inches high, and has 2680 mm / 105,5 inches long wheelbase. Its ground clearance is 170 mm / 6,7 inches.

Range Rover Evoque is 4371 mm / 172,1 inches long, 1904 mm / 75 inches wide, 1649 mm / 64,9 inches high, and has 2681 mm / 105,6 inches long wheelbase. Its ground clearance is 212 mm / 8,3 inches.

That means that Audi Q3 Sportback is 129 mm longer, 61 mm narrower, 89 mm lower, with 1 mm shorter wheelbase, and has 42 mm less ground clearance compared to Range Rover Evoque.

Interior dimensions

More headroom front for Audi, rear for Evoque.
More headroom front for Audi, rear for Evoque.

The interior dimensions are, due to the similar wheelbase, very even. Audi has a bit more headroom front, while Evoque has, because of non-coupe like shape, more free space above rear seat passengers heads.

Unfortunately, we could not find legroom measurements for Audi, therefore we can not offer you this kind of comparison. The shoulder room, on the other hand, does not show any significant difference.

Luggage compartment: Q3 Sportback with a slight advantage

VDA methodology gives advantage in luggage volume to Q3 Sportback, EPA to Evoque
VDA methodology gives advantage in luggage volume to Q3 Sportback, EPA to Evoque

Audi Q3 Sportback has 530 liters of luggage volume (VDA, seats up). With rear seats folded down, the cargo capacity extends to 1400 liters.

On the other hand, Range Rover Evoque has 472 liters of luggage volume (VDA, seats up). With rear seats folded down, the cargo capacity extends to 1383 liters.

Therefore, Audi Q3 Sportback has 58 liters more volume when seats are up, and 17 liters more volume when the rear seats are folded down.

But if we look at the EPA measurements, which uses a different methodology, Range Rover Evoque wins by 2,8 cu.ft. with seats up and 1,1 cu.ft. when rear seats are folded down. Go figure.

Surprisingly, the Audi Q3 Sportback is much lighter. It weighs more than 300 kilograms less than Range Rover Evoque, which has a big impact on driving performance and results in better acceleration and higher top speed.

Somehow expected, since these are their home markets.
